The Maze Runner Files Book Review

I enjoyed The Maze Runner by James Dashner because of how many events happened. I also enjoyed how the author painted an image in my head with his words, and he always had the best adjectives to describe something. I liked how this book dealt with a very interesting futuristic setting.
I thought that the story moves quickly, which made me not want to put the book down.
Plot:

The main events of the story are about a group of kids who are trying to solve an unsolvable maze. Thomas wakes up in a metal box where the other Gladers greet him. Thomas is teased by the other Gladers for being new and not knowing what’s going on. Thomas immediately wants to become a runner of the maze. One day Alby and Minho go out to inspect a dead griever in the maze, and they can’t run back fast enough to beat the doors closing. Thomas enters the maze at the last moment to help Minho and Alby. Amazingly, all three of them make it through the night in the maze but Alby is stung by the grievers. Alby recovers from the sting and has memories of Thomas torturing him.

A girl comes up in the box and everyone is in awe since there has never been a girl there. She shouts at Thomas and then goes into a coma. She remembers certain things from the coma and tells Thomas the maze is a code. The letters take the maps they made of the maze, and compare the maps to make different letters that make words. The Gladers try to escape through the griever hole Thomas and Minho found. They punch the code words into the computer and enter a laboratory. The Gladers are greeted by a woman who tells them all about how they are a part of an experiment to find a cure for a disease. The people in the lab are shot along with the woman in front of the Gladers eyes. A tactical force rescues the Gladers and takes them away from the maze to a new place to rest.

Characterization:

Thomas started off as a very scared and unconfident person. He was very shy and tended to not show emotion. He gained a lot of confidence the night he entered the maze. The maze changed the way he thought about his new life. Thomas developed into a leader and led the Gladers to freedom. Minho hated running the maze since he ran it for two years and found nothing. Thomas arrived and Minho had an attitude change about the maze. Minho believed there was an exit when they found the griever hole. Minho gained hope as the book progressed.

Setting:

The Maze Runner takes place in a futuristic world where the world has been scorched by the sun. The Maze is in the middle of a dessert but is green in the homestead. Everyone in the glade is a teenage boy except Teresa. Many people have been there for over a year and never found a solution for the maze.

Recommendation:

I would recommend this book to all fans of the maze runner series. This book has a lot of action in it and you are sure to enjoy it if you love quick reads.
